MARYAMA(TWO), BY: HASSAN IDRIS

Dedicated to Maryam Yaseerat Sulaiman

I will crucify death if it cross
the path of my love for you,
I will end her life if she has one.

I will succumb my loving soul
to  death if she wins this battle
of love, and if I stand firm to
win this horrific and tragic
love battle, I will remove the
soul of death and present it
to you.

I will sit you down on the
Sofa of love to watch me
battle with my soul if it tries
to cross the milky path of my
love for you shall I nicely-tattoo
my emotions on your heart.

I will sacrifice my last
breath for your love even
if it means battling with
the hurdles of the pains of
life and death, shall I reap off
my skin to serve as a shelter
to your sparkling goddess skin.

I will make sure my emotions
and unending love devotions
shall surely capture and
beguile your becharming soul
with no undivided attention.

I will tell death that I'm
an immigrant for love cealessly
and happily perusing every
hook and cranny of life waiting
for you to grant my soul
love asylum.

My travelogue into poetry and the Giza's encounter by: Hassan Idris

Oftentimes, people infer 'triumphing' as a means of  obtaining riches, fame,or just to become illustrious. Thus, it depends on how we  perceive social reality.  We all have different perceptions in understanding the world politically, socially and economically. Moreover, stepping into writing is one of my greatest accomplishment.  My encounter with Umar Yogiza Jr, is another story to tell. Cogitating within myself, I wonder if, One can ever be creative without having any encounter with books? One must read other people’s work, see through their experiences and perceptions in order to develop a unique kind of creativity.   My voyage into Poetry began  after reading some worth reading poems of  Sulaiman Ayuba,  Adamu Usman Garko, Sultanatul Jamilat, Mujahid Ameen lilo, Maryam Maynerh Saleh, so also Umar Yogiza Jr.   It was then that  I decided to compose a poem of my own but I was punctured with the blow of criticism!
